We sometimes have a “one artist” day like Michael Jackson and John Legend. I tried to balance genres, but I tend to be heavy in R&B, Hip-Hop, and Soul. I did enjoy putting these lists together because it almost felt like I was a teenager burning a CD again. I included as many lyrics videos as possible because I feel like the music that we play in our classrooms is directly related to our personal tastes and the standard of what we feel is “appropriate.” I know my personal tastes in music are represented in my playlists. I have two playlists in this post: Music with Words and Background Music. Students love to listen to music, but sometimes it also helps if we collectively have music playing overhead.

Call it chillout, smooth, ambient, New Age, instrumental, or background music - this is not as much about a genre as it is about a feeling. Some use it as “sleep music" (I personally think there's better sleep music out there, but it seems to work ) Some even listen to it in their minecraft music playlist. Depending on your interest you might use my music in your relax radio playlist, as yoga music, as music while you're studying, doing homework, working (mentally, creatively), reading, writing, while thinking or reflecting, dreaming, reviewing, making future plans.
